World Ski Tour
This is an idea I've been toying with for a while now. Rather than doing a one week ski trip each year should I put away some of my hard earned for a round the world ticket? And if I did what destinations would be on the top of my list?
Everyone dreams of skiing somewhere different but I hope my day dreaming can shed some light on the main considerations to planning a round the world ski trip.
My main consideration is where is good when? You don't want the last stop on your global expedition to be melting spring snow.
My second consideration is what do I want to ski? Do I want to spend the whole time at ski resorts or maybe try a guided back country trip or some heli skiing or snowcat skiing? If the later where is the best spots heli skiing and guided back country?
This will take some careful planning as there are many things to organize. Airfares, visas, travel insurance, what should I pack, will my hairdryer work overseas?
Before we put it in the too hard basket lets think for a second. A full lap of the globe skiing the best powder this planet has to offer, doesn't sound too tough?
Here is my ideal trip I hope it can help inspire you to plan your own.
Canada
Arguably the most reliable destination for powder anywhere in the world and some of the best resort, cat skiing and . My round the world adventure will have to start here.
I would head straight to Whistler to get my ski legs back. Only 2 hours from Vancouver and some of the best snow I have ever ridden spread over 2 enormous mountains, Whistler would be an excellent first stop. A few days early January would be perfect as the Christmas rush has died down and the snow is at its best.
Northern Escape Heli Skiing: Terrace B.C
Now that we've warmed up lets head to the Skeena ranges that run from Northern British Columbia to Alaska. Northern Escape is true Alaskan style heli skiing but much more reliable with fewer no fly days. With varied terrain and abundance of deep dry powder snow together with their vast ski area and exceptional lodging Northern Escape would have to be part of my trip.
France
France is an exceptional ski holiday destination. Whether you want to ski hard on some of best terrain in the world or take in the famous culture, food and wine is up to you. But since this is my holiday I'm going to do both. Now I'm hungry for powder. I've sampled the best of Canada now let's get stuck into some guided off piste skiing at the highest mountain in Europe. Chamonix is considered to have some of the best off-piste skiing in the world. Much of this is accessible from the lift systems and includes descents of over 2000m. Definitely arrange a professional guide to access what is considered to be the best off piste skiing in the world.
France often has great snow well into March but keep in mind you can also do the famous Haute Route traverse from Chamonix to Zermatt in April and early May when condition stabilise and the days are long.
India
Is the ultimate travel destination and Gulmarg in Northern India is its top ski resort. Anyone who has been will tell you that as soon as you hop off the plane you are thrown in to a world of rich smells, sights and culture like nowhere else. That together with possibly the deepest lift accessed powder anywhere in the world make it the perfect conclusion to my round the world trip.
Skiing in this exotic location with the Himalayas in the background is truly unique. The powder snow is as deep as you can imagine and the terrain is a great combination of gladed tree runs and alpine bowls. There are fantastic professionally guided tours to ski Gulmarg's epic backcountry terrain that run from early January to late February.

The Pros and Cons of Different Types of Hobby RC
The Pros and Cons of Different Types of Hobby RC Cars
The hobby of collecting and racing RC cars involves more than just buying pre-selected RC pieces and assembling them by instruction. There is so much more to hobby RC cars than that. The beauty in collecting RC cars lies in selecting pieces and assembling them manually. This personalized assembly can create various types of RC cars, far different from the common pre-selected pieces that are available in most stores.
RC cars are generally classified according to the type of fuel that they use and the terrain that they are racing on. It is very important that hobbyists understand the types and the different uses of each RC car type because racing the wrong car in the wrong terrain can cause you to damage or even completely loose your prized possession. Aside from that, the more knowledge you have on how your RC car operates and its different terrain maneuverability can give you a huge edge in winning RC car races.
Electric RC Cars
The very first types of hobby RC cars are the electric RC cars. They are generally much lighter compared to the other types which will be described later. The best thing about electric RC cars is their maneuverability. They respond very well to controls, making them very easy to race through complex and hard terrains. Aside from that, they make use of a cleaner power and thus, engine maintenance can be kept to a minimum.
The only disadvantage to electric powered hobby RC cars is the battery charging time. Charging RC battery packs will take a whole lot of time. So RC car owners have the option of buying extra battery packs for replacement or they can just wait until the battery is in full power again. Aside from that, electric RC cars do not have the same speed capabilities as with the other type of RC cars available in the market.
Nitro RC Cars
The next kind of hobby RC cars is the Nitro RC race cars. These types are powered by Nitromethane and lubricants. They can run at exceptional speeds and for longer periods of time. They are considered to be the fastest running types of RC cars. The downside to these fast RC cars is that the combustion products make them unsuitable for racing in indoor settings. They are also very noisy to run. And as a result, you might need to invest more time and effort in cleaning and maintaining the engine to keep it in tip top shape. And last but not least, the fuel price can be a bit expensive as well.
Off Road RC Cars
The last type of are the off road RC cars. These types are used for outdoor and rough terrains. These fast RC cars have specialized wheels that provide a stable grip on the road, allowing the car to run at high speeds in spite of rough terrains. They are the types that are usually used in obstacle racing.
So make sure that you use the right RC car type for the kind of racing terrain you want to run your RC in. Using the correct RC model will help you keep your piece in top shape and give you the best odds in winning the race.

The Garmin Gpsmap Systems
Garmin is perhaps one of the most respected names in GPS units today and that is not only because they have a high standard where quality and design are concerned, they also have a lot of different models to choose from. This ensures that each consumer can find the GPS that is just right for them. Of the many models that Garmin offers, there are three that are particularly useful and popular to a wide variety of people. These three models would be the 296, the 396, and the 496.
The Garmin 296 is a great option because it will allow you to be in control of your positioning on just about any terrain. This is a color aviation GPS that has built in terrain mapping as well as built in alerting. The unit comes with a Jeppsen database in addition to the terrain and U.S. obstacle databases. The result is that you can take this unit in the air and have a detailed view of your flight route. Many prefer this model because the display is very clear. The system boasts a 256 color high resolution TFT display that has adjustable backlighting. This unit features a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. One reason that this unit is so popular is that it can be used on the land, in the air, or on the sea!
The Garmin 396 is much like the 296 with the built in Jeppsen database and terrain and U.S. obstacle databases. Unlike the 296 the 396 is able to give you up to date weather using the XM WX Satellite Weather. This is a nice feature whether you are driving, in the boat, or in the air because it will help you not only predict what is ahead in terms of terrain and obstacles, but also what sort of weather you may be heading into. You can also save and print flight data from this unit, which could prove useful for future flights. Like the 296, this unit includes a rechargeable lithium-ion battery and can be used in the air, on the water, or on land.
The Garmin 496 is built on the platform of the 296 and the 396 and even has some of the same basic features, but where Garmin GPS is concerned this is a gold standard. In fact, this unit is considered a must have by a lot of pilots. The 496 takes the design and the functionality of the 396 and in addition offers a lot of high end software with the purchase. With this unit youll have faster updates; youll receive altitude specific alerts, and even views of the taxiways at specific airports. This unit also includes the ability to receive weather updates, is portable and has a lithium ion battery, and can be used on land, air, or sea.
The Best Zero Turn Mower Tips
Though almost everyone care for their lawns, they're less enamored of cutting them. Almost all people want to get the lawn cut in a hurry, fueling a demand from customers for the best zero turn mower that makes less physical demands of their operators. People who have over a acre of lawn to maintain can be well-suited to lawn tractors, but these cope poorly with obstacles such as rocks, shrubs in addition to trees.
Companies have reacted by producing the best zero turn mower, which steers make use of it's rear wheels, compared to the actual the usual front-wheel-steering tractor design. Rear-steering is, admittedly, something that needs to be got used to. The best zero turn mower cuts so near to obstacles that they more or less remove the need to trim, pivoting 180 degrees while not leaving a circle of uncut lawn.
Snapper's 355Z 24/44 zero-turn mower is really a sturdy mower designed for residential use. It weighs just 655 lbs with no attachments on account of the omission of some of the heavier suspension elements widely associated with mowers. The actual 355Z has not been devised for heavy-duty usage, although may operate comfortably within the typical residential environment.
The Swisher Max Z ZT2660B is sufficiently sturdy for commercial use, although can still be afforded by home owners. A large-but-stable 60 inch cutting deck performs admirably at all speeds on all terrains. The 26 hp Briggs & Stratton engine delivers a great deal of kick, moving the unit at 6mph, an amazing speed bearing in mind the actual size of the cutting deck. Mulching blades usually are standard-issue.
The initial apparent thing concerning the Toro Titan Z4800 Model 74812 is how smoothly it operates. It has a user-friendly ignition plus hydraulically-dampened control levers, making it feel like a pleasure to use. A cutting deck adjustment, foot-controlled, is usually exceedingly smooth and will adjust without problems to uneven terrain as well as hillsides. It's flotation is outstanding on all terrain.
The Troy-Bilt Mustang Colt RZT is usually a great in addition to comparatively cheap best zero turn mower intended only for residential use - speed goes down markedly on hills also it is unsuited to rugged terrain. It weighs only 480 lbs and includes a 42 inch cutting deck. It moves at a maximum of 5.5 mph, slightly slower compared with what other residential designs, which is compensated for by their stable 42 inch cutting deck. Handling and turning good on surfaces which are level or a little bit sloping.
The John Deere Mini Z-Trak 717A handles home plus commercial conditions just as well, plus has the high price one would consequently expect. It can move at approximately 9mph. Any cut would be consistent even at high speeds or on undulating ground. It takes rough terrain in it's stride. It's recommended by lots of commercial landscapers.
Hence the best zero turn mower turns on a dime and the larger the cutting deck, the less time is going to be spent using one. Forward and reverse control is instant and also the field of view will be unobstructed. For landscapers or those who prefer to be doing anything more enjoyable, a zero turn mower is going to yield benefits.

The Best Hiking Boots For Coastal Trails
The terrain on most any coast can be extreme, but the range of conditions that feet can see in the temperate regions is phenomenal. The terrain is not likely to be totally dry, even after long dry spells. Coastal hiking in temperate regions means mud, and plenty of it. Coasts where softwood trees grow also means a lot of exposed root systems to climb over and through. Directly on the coastal shoreline means rocky areas and sandy areas. And there are often streams to ford. Add slippery boardwalk into this recipe, and you have the classic West Coast Trail experience, now also available, and more so, on the new North Coast Trail on Vancouver Island. So, how do feet-and bodies-cope with this wide variety of conditions? The boots have a huge impact.
Coastal hiking is akin to extended backpacking or lighter mountaineering. Boots designed for this activity are generally considered Class C, which makes them noticeably heavier and stiffer than mid-weight hiking boots. These boots have some special construction features: toe caps, cemented outsoles, molded midsoles, ankle height, stiff shanks, and waterproof design.
These heavier boots provide the best level of support, protection, and durability for heavier loads and longer trips. If you are carrying a backpack on extended trips, your boots need to be designed to supports heavy loads of approximately 40+ pounds. Both the West Coast Trail and the North Coast Trail put you on the trail for more than three days with a moderate to heavy pack, and since this is demanding terrain, an extended (heavy weight) backpacking boot is appropriate. If you are considering other hikes that involve glacier travel, you may need to attach crampons. You will need to check that the boots are compatible before you buy. Even hiking at slightly higher elevations in coastal mountains can make for cold-weather. For cold-weather hiking it's critical to get waterproof insulated boots that breathe to keep you dry, but these are not really necessary for walking lower trails near the coastal shores.
The support given to the ankle and foot are mostly from the stiffness and durability of the shank that runs the length of the boot under the foot, not from the high ankle height of the boot. The shank is the main support system in a boot. High tops can provide a little extra support alongside the shank, but not much. So, what do those high tops do?
High tops help prevent ankle abrasions from scree and loose rock and branches, and they help keep water from entering the boot in low water conditions. Keeping water out is very important. Long hikes with wet boots can cause increased abrasion and blistering from friction inside the boots, as well as rapid fungal growth. Alongside the high-top boots, a pair of gaiters is really necessary for coastal trails. Gaiters cannot prevent water from entering boots from the top in deep puddles, but they can keep the system dry in water levels slightly higher than the boot top if you are moving through at a relatively quick pace. The waterproofing on your boots is good for low water, below boot height; the gaiters help to extend this protection a bit over the boot top. Sometimes, it is just unavoidable: that puddle was deeper than you thought, your sandal blew out before the creek ford, etc. After the boots are wet inside, it is up to you then to manage the wet by changing socks and attempting to keep your feet dry, perhaps by lining the inside of the boots with a thin plastic bag, until you can get them off and dry them out. Wet skin is more fragile than dry skin. Preventing wetness helps prevent blisters and open sores. The fit of your boot is the other factor in preventing blisters and sores.
New boots designed for rugged terrain will feel stiff but they should still be comfortable. An extra sock on a smaller foot can adjust the fit if you need slightly different sizes for each foot, but get boots big enough to fit the largest foot properly, not the smallest foot. Always wear your boots to break them in before any trip. This also goes for old, worn-in hiking boots. They may have changed or your feet may have changed since the last trip. Try them out before you leave.
Lace up your hiking boots snugly. The ball and arch of your foot should feel snug but you should be able to curl your toes without pain. Your should be able to move your toes up and down and have room in front so they don't get pressed into the front of the boot on descents. Your heel should be securely cupped and not move excessively or feel like it's floating. Breaking your new boots in will take weeks. The pressure of your foot in the boot must mold and shape the boot to form fit your foot. With denser materials in heavy hiking boots, this takes some time, perhaps 80+ kilometers. Before you go, try a good two to three hour hike with your pack loaded to see if anything is heating up or hurting.
Make sure you break them in before you go on a trip. Light-weight hiking boots need a shorter break in. And if you're a serious hiker heavy-weight boots can take 50+ miles, so you'll definitely want to break them in. Take a few 10 mile day hikes before you go on a long trip. Before we end this discussion, lets take a brief look at the parts of your boots.
Gusseted Tongue- A gusseted tongue simply is attached to both sides of the boot. It helps prevent scree, dirt, and water from getting into your hiking boots to cause irritation.
Heel- Your hiking boots should have a slightly padded Achilles indentation for comfort, put there to avoid chafing your Achilles tendon area above your heel.
Insole- The insole sits directly underneath your foot inside the boot and is the main shock absorber for your foot. Most insoles can be removed and replaced. You might want to customize your boots with special insoles that give more shock absorption
Mid-sole- The part of the sole just above the out-sole and below the insole. This layer also acts as a shock absorber and may consist of EVA (expanded vinyl acetate) which offers a softer ride but wears quickly or polyurethane which offers a firmer ride and lasts longer.
Out-sole- The outer part of the sole made of rubber or Vibram that provides grip. Deeper lugs provide more aggressive traction for steep grades and off-trail excursions. Dual-density offer a combination of durability and grip.
Shank- Usually made of nylon or steel, the shank provides support for your arch. Some shanks are lighter nylon, and some are heavier steel. The stiffer and more durable the shank, the less likelihood of ankle twists and sprains.
Toe Box and bumper- This is the area around the toes. A bumper here helps protect against toe impacts and abrasions.
Uppers- This is the part of the boot that's above and attached to the sole by cement or stitching. It can be made of full-grain leather, split-grain leather (suede), Nubuck suede (full-grain leather that's been sanded to resemble suede), or fabric. Full-grain leather holds up the best, is the most supportive, and is very resistant to water. The construction of the uppers also contributes to waterproofing.
Considering coastal hikes like the West Coast Trail or the North Coast Trail, good quality, reliable boots are essential. These boots need to be supportive for the rugged terrain, water proof to the top in construction, and need to have a proper, comfortable fit. These trails require multiple days with considerable weights in the backpack, so they need to be broken in well to prevent blisters and injury. Additional help with water-proofing can be found by wearing gaiters over the boots. At the end of the day, the hiking boots you wear can make or break a trip.

Nikon 7430 Monarch 8x42mm All-Terrain Binoculars Reviews:
The Nikon 7430 Monarch 8x42mm All-Terrain Binoculars was reviewed by a total of 120 customers. The comments received for this model were very positive. Out of a possible 5 stars, the 7430 was able to capture 4 and half of those stars.
Many agree that you will experience a heightened level of personal viewing, without having to spend a ton of money. One reviewer decided to go against a suggestion made from his sister. She had used an expensive pair of binoculars for different occasions. This reviewer did not have the same budget as his sister and decided to give the 7430 a try probably because the price was reasonable enough. He was quite surprised when it performed just as well. The great thing was, he didn't have to spend a whole lot of money.
Many liked that it was not too bulky and was light-weight. One reviewer was able to test the quality of other binoculars when he went on a trip with several people that had binoculars as well. He noticed the cheaper ones did not allow you to enjoy the little details and some of the key moments were lost.
The high-quality rubber armor found on the binoculars makes it easy to have a firm grip, especially during wet situations. The eyecups give added support for your eyes. It provides comfort and allows you to watch different objects for extended periods.
It seems that when shopping for binoculars, there are some things that one must look for. Lower priced binoculars may not have the same effect as the higher quality and priced ones, but there is a point when everyone has to make a decision as to how much they are willing to spend for quality. Many agree that this will meet the criteria that many are looking for and then some. Overall a very good product.
